How to Stop Over-Giving in Relationships

Over-giving is not love — it is fear in a pretty dress. A prompt to interrupt the cycle and choose mutuality.

Over-giving usually starts as kindness and ends as resentment. The middle is where you forget you were a person before you were useful.

Today, return to that earlier version of you — and ask her what she actually wanted to give, and what was extracted.

Sit with these three questions

  1. Where am I giving to keep someone, instead of giving because I want to?
  2. What would change in my life if I gave myself the same energy I give him?
  3. What is one thing I will stop doing this week without announcing it?
